I have stretched woven wire before with the tool on hand which was a fence stretcher meant to stretch only one wire at a time. I’ve seen the woven wire stretcher in stores and have read about homemade ones online so decided to try my hand at a stretcher. I used leftover 4’ framing boards and instead of bolts I used 3 impact driver star screws with big heads to squeeze the wire between the boards. This seemed faster than aligning bolts and holes and tightening with nuts. It was pretty fast and the come-along is great for stretching because it has a longer range than the fence stretcher.
I used logging chain to attach the come-along to the stretcher and an anchor tree. This was way too heavy for lugging into the woods when a lighter arrangement would be adequate but these were what I had on hand so did the job this time.
