This job has several parts to upgrade the entry. The most visible element is the new door. It is Douglas Fir with Mahogany casing and threshold. A premium tongue oil was selected as a finish and really makes the finished product a show piece. The wood color and grain are really brought out by the finish and on first impression, it appears to be excellent protection from the weather. Time will tell.
The interior of the door was finished with a whey based floor finish. It was a much easier product to apply, dried quickly and required only 2 coats, though admittedly it would see far less weather than the outside so it is not a fair comparison of the two finishes.
- The original door had dramatic raised panels.
- The first sealer coat applied outside.

- I applied 2 sealer coats and 4 finish coats in all.
