Discovering The Naked Table Project
I ran across this project because I have used Vermont Natural Coatings floor finish in a previous project and plan on using it again to finish a wide plank pine floor project in the makings. Shackleton Furniture put The Naked Table Project together and it includes many of my favorite things like Woodstock, VT my home town, Billings National Park where I have XC-skied since I was a boy, Sugar Maple trees and working with wood.

I’ve attached a video below made by one of table makers, that really helps us understand what this project is all about. In essence it is about people making their own tables but in doing so they learn about sustainability, local sourcing and the value in knowing where products they consume come from. In it Charles Skackleton talks about his inspiration for creating the project and there are clips of my friend and colleague Chip Ogg of Charles Ogg Furniture schooling participants in the art of joinery and furniture making.
