Temp Beam in Place

  1. I built this beam in place one board at a time from 2x10s that were 18 and 20 ft. long. Three boards thick made it 4 1/2 inches. You see the third layer in place here with impact driven ledger screws drawing the whole beam together. I used them because I expected the reverse process to disassemble it and these ledger screws were easy to remove. As it turned out, the owner helped me disassemble it and we were able to slide the whole thing out one end of the building so the screws could be removed with feet on the ground.
