Long plagued by leaks, this metal roof on a camp has been patched multiple times. The roofing needed to have ice and water shield under it on the low pitch shed roof additions and screws instead of nails for fasteners. Because the insulation is minimal, heat loss causes ice dams and increased the likely hood of leaks so using strapping to create a vented cold space under the metal roofing made sense.
The pictures show the project getting underway and how wet the roof was under the felt paper.
- Roofing being removed
- Expanding foam had been used for closures of rib openings
- Drain channels had been nailed through so were ineffective
- Water under felt paper
- Surprisingly little rot!
