A wood shed designed for minimal maintenance besides filling it with wood. Though the roof pitch is fairly flat the framing was designed to carry heavy snow loads so there will never be a need to shovel snow off the roof. Heavy 6×6 posts were used for support as well as for knee braces. Rafters bear directly above the garage wall so no additional load was added to the garage rafters while the new beam carries the lower end of rafters where hurricane straps add extra security in this wind prone area. Perhaps this multi-purpose wood shed should be renamed as it was immediately filled with non-firewood items.

I mentioned the shed in a previous post, but I’ll comment on it here as well. Cliff took my plan for a shed and improved on it, giving it the strength to withstand the severe winds we experience and the snow loads that can occur in our area. He interjected that while it was intended to be a woodshed, it is filled with garden equipment. As we are now using wood pellets for heat, the space requirement for fuel is much less. I’m very happy with the way it turned out; it adds a great deal to the usefulness of the property.
Glad to hear it is working for you. Pellet Shed it is then! 🙂
