Without a continuous support beam, some of the weight of the roof was transferred to areas that were supported and this meant things were sagging and pressure points formed over supported areas. Since much of the wall studs were rotted or not structural, the wallboard itself took over the job of supporting the weight of the roof. These cracks are the result.
